Hi friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had an amazing Christmas and I had captured the present opening glory in pictures, only now I don’t have them to show to you… sometime yesterday between taking pictures of Lucy in the living room in the afternoon and when I got home from dinner with friends, my camera took a hike and can’t be found anywhere. We tore the house apart from top to bottom, I searched my car, my friend’s car, and even called the restaurant we were at – it’s no where to be found. I’m bummed about the camera, but I’m even more upset about the memory card. There were a ton of photos I hadn’t pulled yet including the ones from Christmas Eve and Day. :(
A cheap replacement is on the way (thank goodness for after-Christmas sales – some day I’ll be able to afford a nice DSLR, but in the meantime I gotta stick with the point and shoot), but for now it’ll be cell phone pics or nothing at all. Moving on…
I was so excited for Alex and I to open our gifts, and when he got home from work on Saturday night we did just that. I got him some silly stocking stuff (white chocolate, a 311 best of CD, a plastic tiger lol – don’t ask), Longhorn ornaments for the tree, some new PJs, Frisky Dingo season 2, some fun stuff from the Asian market (wasabi peas, Pocky, instant coffee), and the present I was most proud of – he’s a huge fan of ginger beer and ginger ale, so I got him a ginger beer sampler consisting of eight different brands, 3 of each. He was so stoked, and I wish I had the pictures to show you of his face when he opened it up!
As for me – I feel like a queen with the awesome gifts bestowed upon me.
A travel French press – I’ve been wanting one for a while now!
A gorgeous rose quartz necklace.
And the MANATEE SQUISHABLE that I wanted because I’m 5. ;) It makes a great lay-on-the-couch pillow, and Lucy is a big fan as well.
I also got some great stocking stuffers, like more dark chocolate to replace the bar that Rambo ate and some spatulas – I have a bad habit of destroying mine in the food processor and blender. Whoops.
My sister hooked us up with some great gifts all the way from Washington including some awesome PJ pants for Alex, a scarf for me, and a framed photo of my lovely niece and nephews.
I miss them so much!
After Alex and I opened our gifts, he ate pizza and I carried out an old family tradition of mine and ate my weight in peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce. We cuddled on the couch and watched Frisky Dingo – originally we were going to try to go look at lights, but it was rainy and gross outside so we opted to hang out in the warmth with the pups – best night ever.
On Christmas Day Alex and I went out for pho for lunch before he had to go to work, and I went out last night with some friends for Thai curry. I landed back at a friend’s house for a while where we baked gluten-free cookies and brownies and had a great time hanging out.
I had the day off from work today, and I spent the day mourning the loss of my camera (and shopping online for its replacement) and doing some minimal cooking (roasting beets, making cabbage soup in the crock pot, assembling mason jar salads for the week), but mostly I spent a lot of time in my jammies on the couch watching Netflix and cuddling the pups some more.
Laaaaaaaazy.
I return to work tomorrow, but we have this coming Friday off too, so I only have to work 3 days this week – sweeeeeeeeet. I’m going to finish my day by washing up some dishes and returning to the couch for a couple hours before bed. I hope you all had amazing weekends! If you celebrated Christmas, what was your favorite present to give and/or receive?
<3 C

That sucks about your camera- perhaps incentive to save for a fancy schmancy one? I’m still in the great debate too, but I haven’t lost my trusty powershot. I love your new french press, enjoy!
oh i miss my nieces and nephews too! such cute faces. Hope you and Alex get lots of hang time friend.
xoxo
Sorry about your camera! That’s happened to me more times than I’d like to admit.
Gorgeous necklace!!
I’m chilling on the couch with my niece right now. Gotta love the family time!
So much awesome
happy holidays, friend!
I am sorry about the camera, hope you can find it soon. Love all your christmas gifts!
I had a christmas blast this year, got a stand mixer and an Iphone
Darn about the camera!!!! Looks like, besides that, you had a great Christmas. It’s always nice to have a little time off work to spend with people you care about!
The missing camera is so frustrating. Sorry about that. Maybe it will surprise you and magically appear? Sounds like you’ve had some good down time. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day my friend!
So sorry to hear about your camera!
It sounds like otherwise you had a wonderful Christmas!
look at those SWEEEEET pup faces! I love them!!
I am in need of a couple new spatulas, mine get nicks in them from my food processor blades too (I NEVER go the right way!!)
glad you had a great holiday, sorry about the camera, boo. hope it shows up! XXO
I hope you know how big my smile gets when I see I have a notification from you.
Alex gets so pissy with me for the nicks in the spatulas – his rant is that it’s a perfect hiding place for bacteria… which is probably is, but I like to consider it an immunity building exercise. I live on the edge, I tell ya!
He cracks me up over the strange things he is particular about!
Stupid camera… grrrrrrrr. I just want my memory card, bah! So far the pictures I’ve taken with my sub-par camera on my phone are hilarious… I have to edit them pretty hardcore to make them bright enough! My replacement should be here hopefully by the end of the week! Still have my fingers crossed that the old one turns up, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
GAAH, this is the sweetest thing and you just made my day, dear friend! XXO
Your FACE makes my day. Heart you, Kris! xo
I hope you find your camera (or it finds you)! Glad you had a lovely holiday!
Thanks, Laura!!
Sounds like you had the perfect low-key Christmas! It seems that was how it was with most people that I’ve talked to this year…as was mine. I think this was the first Christmas in a while that I didn’t feel stressed to the max. That totally sucks about your camera…I’d seriously lose my head if it wasn’t attached so I’m no stranger to missing things, but I think losing pictures is one of the hardest things…especially around the holidays! Who knows, maybe it’ll turn up…hmm, and then you’ll have TWO cameras!
LOVE the pup pics…as usual! And now I think I need to find me one of those portable French presses…I didn’t even know there was such a thing!
BB was really good to me for Christmas…he got me some really nice workout clothes (including a pink and black Under Armor jacket) and then yesterday after work I came home to Christmas #2…two bottles of local KY wine (near where his family lives in Paducah) and a pair of Smartwool ski socks to wear with my boots that I was complaining about being to big for my feet on Christmas Eve! I feel like I’m being spoiled rotten by him…and I’m so not used to receiving such thoughtful gifts. With my ex, I always had to tell him (or even print out a picture of it online) and then half the time, I’d end up with some sort of IOU…or a gift that was more for him than it was for me…hello Playstation games!
I only recently saw the portable french press… I was so beyond excited to find it (and then hint to Alex that I needed one for Christmas *ahem*). And I said it before but I’ll say it again, you DESERVE to be spoiled! I’m glad he’s treating you right… because otherwise I might have to throw down!
I hope your camera shows up….
Loved your recap! We bought the exact same travel french press for my husband’s boss. I bought the bright green one because the color made me happy, hope she agrees.
I got a new yoga mat and some Toms that I’m really excited about. Oh yeah, and my husband bought me a car!! We weren’t going to exchange gifts this year in lieu of our recent vacation, and then he goes and gets me a car. All I had bought him was the Super 8 DVD. Oops.
I love your manatee pillow! I had so much fun gazing at the rescue manatees at Disney World Epcot recently. They are so sweet.
Congrats on the car!!! What kind??
I am totally going to swim with the manatees in Florida someday. Huge dream of mine.
Aw, sucks about your camera – hope it shows up! If it makes you feel any better, I’ve lost my wallet twice AND the car keys.
Love all your loot! And I love my dog but I wish he was more snuggly, he wants to be “near” me, just not touching me.
I haven’t ever lost my car keys *knocks on wood*, but I have locked them in the car COUNTLESS times, including once while it was in line at the oil change place. They were pissed!
My Lucy-dog is more distant than Rambo… she gets in snuggly moods, but mostly she’s content to just be close by.
Nightmare about your camera – hopefully it’ll turn up somewhere, fingers crossed… Gorgeous necklace though and the manatee’s brilliant! Glad you had a good day
Hehehehe thanks girl!! I definitely hope the camera turns up, but I’m not holding my breath over it!
wheeeeeeeeeeee! You got the manatee! Hurrah!
Love love love rose quartz – great for learning to love yourself, very very important, wear it close to your heart
I squealed like a little girl when I opened the box. There WAS a photo of me hugging it right after I got it, all elated-faced, but it’s on the memory card of the missing camera. Grrrrrr. And yes, LOVE the attributes of rose quartz <3
Oh no! That’s frustrating and scary. :S Hope you find it soon!!
Thanks, girl! xo
I’m so very sorry about your camera and the missing photos, but I love your attitude and that you’ve already ordered your replacement. I hope to have a DSLR sometime in the near future, but for now it’s my old Sony point & shoot.
Looks like a lovely Christmas. Your necklace is so gorgeous, and your niece and nephews are precious.
My camera arrived tonight, and I’m loving it in all its point and shoot glory.
This one is fun because you can change the photos to black and white, sepia, etc. on the camera. That’s fancy-pants enough for me in the meantime!
Losing a memory card is a terrible thing! What would we do without our camera! Any time I am near water I am afraid it will fall in. Or I’ll throw it in. You got some GREAT gifts!
